Disability Training

Inclusive climbing is about facilitating people to overcome their barriers to get into the sport of climbing.

Who is it for?
Individuals wanting to upskill and gain confidence and personal knowledge, either for themselves, their place of work, or for with working with groups and organisations.

For teachers, trainee teachers, coaches, or school staff who would like to learn more around how to make their activities or venue more inclusive.

The training we offer isn’t just Disability Awareness Training for a venue. Our courses provide a meaningful passing on of knowledge and skills. You will also gain an understanding of the equipment available and ways that can be used in. All this means you can feel you have the confidence and the skills to provide or participate in an accessible rock-climbing experience.

Why? Inclusive climbing isn't only for a select few. We have worked hard to make information freely available around the subject with the Inclusive Climbing Manual but how to put that into practice is where our training packages or technical advice /consultancy come in.

The purpose of undertaking our training is about making climbing more inclusive. This could be to support people who climb or who want to climb and also have a disability or long-term medical conditions, or use the benefits of climbing as a form of exercise and fitness and making it an inclusive sport.

The outcomes could be...

  • Climbing gym/wall becomes more inclusive.
  • Creates diversity in climbing.
  • Gives you knowledge of how and what climbing equipment to use for inclusive climbing activities.
  • Being or becoming a recognised trainer by Mountain Training UK and being able to gain CPD points.

What will you discover?

  • Practical implications and use of an inclusive sports Decision Making Framework (DMF). This is knowledge of equipment and techniques and when to use them.
  • Assistance with and knowledge of positive etiquette for working with people who have impairments/disabilities.

We offer 3 types of training and, due to the flexibility we have, can tailor these to your venue, requests, and audience.

  • Coming Soon! Online Disability Awareness.
  • The foundation level, giving you an introduction to the whole subject.
  • Technical of training.

These can be stand alone training days or can be combined into a 2 day course. Also if you have specific training requirements we can tailor a course or provide technical support/advice for you or your venue on request contact us for more info.
