In the buildup to this trip I did lots of research and looking at what information is there. I found this a bit misconnected, from the point of the whole journeying not just the day to stand on the summit. The accents and experience of ascending to summit of Greece highest peak (Mytikas) is well worth all the reading and learning and planning paid off but hopefully so yourself, the next person potentially doesn't have to trawl i though I'd put in a few thoughts, tip and links.

First thing, Mount Olympus is the area where the Greek gods were believed to live in the clouds looking down at all its land and subjects, this is now a UNESCO world heritage site and national park, The actual summit to the heights point in Greece is Mytikas (Μύτικας). many other summits make up the mountain plateau some resembling a reflection of the French alps and some like the lake district but all set above 2000 meter. Very impressively the ascent to the summit starts at sea level, goes though forest and out to open alpine area,

, they are great as but also for the finer details of routes up and down extra reading is needed. Hence the looking for GPS coordinates and use of Garmin to identify route work excellent alongside satellite phots to make sense of a route and terrain that should be undertaken.

          The Decision-Making Framework (DMF)

, How to make activities Inclusive

           The age old

            rule of the magic

circle is that "a magician never reveals a trick", well the magic is how the tricks are done? Then the new era of magician came though, the Deron Brown era that made this part of the show, Mostly seeing if you could keep up with the hand faster than they eye, the audience wants more. What has this got to do with sporting and adventurous activities? Well we are performing to an audience, keep the audience engaged. its not far off that show person thing, then you have the Inclusive sport part, its that next era away from the factory output, how to cater for individuals do things alternative and safe, it could be seen as a kind of magic. well like that next generation the DMF is a revel of how the magic and performance can be done by anyone working and understanding sports,

The Decision-Making Framework (DMF) model was created to give structure to thoughts and decisions in providing inclusive activities, the process isn't activity specific until the subjects and details are added to each stage, for example stage 3 would be where you choose the appropriate equipment for a user i.e. in climbing a harness, in paddling or archery the seating or stood support individuals may need.

As authors of publications on inclusive activities and delivery trainer to those operating in adventurous activities, James Gilligan, Edward Kinner and Graeme Morrison created the DMF model from years of experience.

          The DMF’s advantages are that:

          • provides an efficient order in which to take taken decisions and actions .

          • enables individuals to be involved in preparing for their own adventure.

          • integrates with other processes and inclusive training courses.

          •	It is applicable to, and has been successful for, a huge range of individuals, coaches and humans in general.

It is quite likely that an experienced coach may be identifying an individual’s inspiration and functionality

            (

             Stages 1 and 2)

hours before any ‘climbing’ and possibly through the medium of another activity. This experience therefore enables a smooth progression through the DMF and allows focus to move onto

            Stage 3 Activity Preparation.

For less experienced coaches, it may be a more methodical process as their experience develops. for the purposes of subjects stage 1 & 2 will remain what ever the activity, stages 3 to 5 will vary depending on activity as mentioned earlier, in the case of above this is green and be for climbing as published and set out the order in the

It should be noted that whilst progression is being made, sometimes taking a step back to the previous stage may be needed to clarify, re-assess or adjust accordingly.

Throughout, it is to the individual that reference and consideration should be continually made.

This enables them to be in control of their adventure and not in the spotlight as ‘the problem’.

That potion of colours is a ‘watergaw’ and emerges after a hefty bout of rain. Do not confuse it with a rainbow.

          Why north wales?

Well simple answer is it has so much to offer, but weather is the great thing as if its raining in mountains so that usually means you can get to the coast, seas cliff of crag.

           why ask the professionals?

I know it is possible to and find the crags in a guide book but we are offer our services not just for route finding, but assisting to know where to go and get the best in the times of year with the weather laid out what ever it may be. It can appear daunting at first so choosing to seek professional help is always a good option. Our aim is to also assist your progression of climbing skills to be safe and independent.

Short version, spring and autumn are best weather, when the weather isn't so great in uk its awesome here!

For many years I have headed out to Greece, ironically for a long time not connect the 2 things in have had in life whihc have been going on while, usually as a trip to Greece meant a domestic task, i.e. the electric board, start a 6am by queuing and by 4 you may of sorted the bill out, Needless to say the jobs list has got smaller so exploring got better over the past few years. On the doorstep to the place we stay is many things, good restaurants, the beech 200 metres away and best of all mountains over to 600m mark just behind. plus a few scattering of crags,

The Athens climbing guide book covers some crags, but these are population driven, mostly in distance to the city. so what we have found and explored are a few off the beaten but awesome places,

We are developing the knowledge of the climbing venues, as these 2 crags as most of the ones we know don't appear in a guide book, so keep and eye on the two links as we will update info as moderators.

e have used an EV for the past 3 years, which has been great, carries all the toys we need (including us). We charge it up in the best means possible by using electricity contract of renewable sources whihc means and when we do use the fossil its with good reason, i.e. we don't stay in 5 star hotel, we drive to location and stay there, this power is the same source we run our office from and when we use gadgets,

The way we are set up as a cooperative means we can utilise the geographic location of our team by using those who are most local to reduce the travel to adventures,

We source our outdoor gear and tools for adventure from as local as we can, we are lucky to have Lyon equipment and DMM who make things in Uk for the purpose we want, which is equally useful as they are located near in our playgrounds.

This was the testing performed around a Seated Snowboard unit and the theoretical ideas for what is best to control it when it got to snow. The testing used volunteers to recreate the theoretical control movements to understand and prove how it could be adjusted to fit the variation of people shapes and sizes and when someone with disability used it would it. a support them, b what they need to do to control and create a controlled ride.

The volunteers who came to assist with the seated snowboard, tested our ability to adjust and tailor the seat to variation of body shapes, I can say after all this we did accommodate and the seated unit it performed successfully to there actions.

The little dotty things were meticulously places in the same locations on each participant, this was used to understand how their total Centre of mass was changed by a series of exercise's which replicated the snowboard unit and controlling it in turns. the "Qualisis" record system used gave us a nice animatronic model and video. the output was i could calculate how peoples Centre of mas shifted in space and was it in control.

The information whihc came from all this testing was compared to on snow antics, Data also directed an understanding and plan for being on snow, give someone a learning progression to control the seated snowboard.

As the winter drew near and end and spring is coming, that means a change to the pace and weather.

In 2015 I had the great pleasure of being asked to take a group of junior doctors to Malta for bit of sports climbing and coaching. the two island of Malta and Gozo boast the better weather in spring due to its location, the water may of not warmed up but the perfect temperature for sports climbing on the very rocky islands.

With some good quality investment into the bolting solution of sports climbing, Malta has a lot to offer as either a first time sports climber or those wanting to push the grade a bit harder, The routes can vary dependant on location from 30 metre to pushing to that 70 metre rope to it length. most inland routes being bottom belay and return.

The great opportunity of working with they folks I travelled with was seeing the progression thought the week from firs time sport to competent leader.

For the fair few years of Adaptive climbing activities development, one thing had remain a constant, that it was always trying to use the latest technology, as this has also been the ethos of Petzl and Lyon Equipment, they were approached to see about how to work together.

Gilligan's isl joined forces with Lyon equipment team in the winter of 2018, the intention and output was to create the best knowledge for inclusive climbing activities. That is safe and easy to put together for everyone. In many meetings, activities were presented and they gave their feedback on equipment and its best use or an alternative to ensure what was being proposed was being within manufactures remit.

They gave you great adventures, what do you do with your snow sports gear when its time to park them up?... give them a new life, here are few ideas of what we have done with ours.

What to do with your skis/snowboard when they get to retire.

We don't have to write much here as the picture tell the story. You have that gear its that has made the adventure happen, but technology has now improved.

What do you do to retire your gear,

here's a few ideas for your gear that is worn, broken or old tech. Landfill not an environment option, recycling bits is pretty hard. So when it comes to hanging up your skis, why not hang stuff up on them to remind you of these fun times and useful!

For this article and what we have been calling this sport is seated snowboarding, adaptive snowboarding, disability snowboarding seated or sitting snowboarding, All Pretty much all the same thing as the equivalent in its skiing would be a sit-ski. this is because this is a concept and gap in knowledge (by equipment) which has been achieved by this design, a first. Not standing and not moving over to a skiing equivalent labeled as snowboarding. The overview of what we conceived, build, tested and got to play on (and crash sometimes) was a seated unit which is on snowboard.

that those who snowboarded wanted to snowboard, but when it came to seated they moved across to something that was a sit ski. why? because nothing existed. what makes snowboarding what it is is a platform wide singular you take a stance on sideways to your body, much like surfing, however when it comes to requiring support for your posture maybe due to disability or impairment, we ll nothing exited which also gave the freedom of stood snowboarding. long is the journey which created this, nicknamed the "JJJ" due ti its design team involved. a mark 8 version now boasts a supportive seating position for a user to access a winter snow sports resort, using chairlifts, drag lifts independently. As well as adjustable to be set facing, either facing of the board (goofy/regular stance). main thing is it has suspension so you don't get bounced around and have control of your edging/turns.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Ross Ormsby in 2004 on a Back up NZ course. Flipping all round awesome bloke who scene of adventure continues boundless.

"i've always wanted to go see whats at the bottom of that waterfall" was how the opening line begun this adventure.

Ross had broke his neck aged 16 In a rugby accident, and so uses a wheelchair to get round. Getting to the top view point of the falls was no issue as the 200 metre track led from a car park, but that's also where the water fell 55 metre.

With use of a Paragliding harness, a Kayak, climbing gear and top team what could be deemed as impossible was achieved.

I have now doubt that what come out of this adventure was not just abseiling down 55 metre but showing and motivating many with a bit of planning is is possible to achieve goals thought out of reach.

            Creation of Inclusive Climbing book

It had been a long awaited time in the climbing world for a book around the subject of inclusive climbing/disability rock climbing. This is that time and change is a foot from its information this book provides as it makes climbing more free and acceptable to everyone by knowledge ans skill. it would also bring freedom to all regardless of physical impairment or disability, this was the motivating factor in the publications creation.

          Toni's story "Tibia" the climb

"Tibia" is 5.7 climbing experience located on the edge of Lake Taupo, identified in the name by its resemblance to a giant tibia bone, its 55 metre off width getting wider as you move up behind. to its platform top, it is a whole body experience, what is meant by this is wedging yourself between the two walls ad hand and foot holds are non existent but two grippy walls are.

The thing that made this journey and adventure more impressive was this was Toni's return to outdoor climbing, this had been her aim after month's of rehabilitation and had just got some partial control of her left leg.

The flying J was created by request from Austrian new set up in 2007. the concept and learning was based on previous experience of inclusive/adaptive paragliding.
